Let’s save some money and make this brown sugar oatmilk shaken espresso at home! This recipe includes making a big batch of homemade brown sugar syrup, using coconut sugar as an alternative if preferred.
For the Brown Sugar Syrup:
1. Add 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup brown sugar (or coconut sugar) to a pot over low heat.
2. Simmer until the sugar is completely combined and dissolved.
3. Let the syrup cool down; you can stick it in the fridge to speed up the cooling process.
4. Store the cooled syrup in a jar. It lasts for up to 2 weeks in the fridge.
For the Shaken Espresso:
1. Brew 2-3 shots of espresso (e.g., using a Nespresso).
2. In a shaker, combine the brewed espresso, 2 tablespoons of the homemade brown sugar syrup, and a sprinkle or two of cinnamon.
3. Shake well to combine.
4. Add ice to the shaker and shake again until thoroughly chilled.
5. Pour the shaken espresso mixture into a cup.
6. Top with oat milk and then cold oatmilk foam if desired.
